Long term technical assistance on human resource management, Zambia

The main objective of this project in Zambia was to ensure that advice and guidance on human resources given to the Ministry of Health was technically sound, professional, and would result in a series of work plans to bring about required change.

 

To achieve this, Health Partners Southern Africa assessed the existing staffing levels by category of employee per health facility.

 

This survey provided the baseline for:

  • designing a recruitment and retention strategy
  • implementing a performance management system
  • developing a national human resources for health strategy.

Technical assistance also promoted leadership skills to help build capacity in human resource management and development, as well as contributing to organisational development exercises.
